The Voga Longa in Venice, from a local protest against motor boats to an international events of the rowing world

The Vogalonga, a non-competitive race of 30 km across Venice canals and the surrounding lagoon, saw its first edition in 1975 as a way to bring back rowing boats to the water of Venice, to protest against the excess of motor boats and their consequences. Started by a handful of Venetians, it’s now a huge local and international appointment as well as a rare occasion to see and experience Venice the way it should be: rowing.

We know this event is a favorite of many of you, and hope that these images make you feel a bit like you were here!

I'm visiting Venice. Why should I follow your recommendations?

The way you visit Venice has an impact both on the quality of your experience and on Venice itself.  Chilling, exploring, shopping, eating and drinking where the locals do, can make a huge impact both on the memories you bring home and on the local economy and community.
