Event: La VogalongaAll Events
4 June, 2017 | € 20
Created by a group of friends, both amateur and professional rowers, the Vogalonga is a non-competitive “race” in which any kind of rowing boat could participate, in the spirit of historical festivities.
The first Vogalonga began in 1975 with the message to protest against the growing use of powerboats in Venice and the swell damage they do to the historic city.
Participants gather in the Basin, sing hymns to San Marco, and begin the race: a scenic 30 km route along the Canal Grande and Canale di Cannaregio (the main Venetian canals), Murano and Burano.
Nowadays every edition can count on several thousands boats and rowers!!!
