In Venice, we came across a pretty surprising view in the Basin of San Marco. What are we talking about? There is, literally, San Marco facing San Marco!
No, it’s not a typo. San Marco is also the name of a ship of the Italian Navy, which serves as an amphibious transport dock. Built by Fincantieri and in service since 1988, this ship can carry a battalion of troops and up to 36 armored vehicles.
Aesthetically speaking, we would prefer the view of the basin filled with rowing boats only and, maybe, the Amerigo Vespucci
