A city made of people, not only canals and palaces
Away from the usual clichés, the photos of Venice by Lucia Buricelli show candid black and white images of the city, full of Venetians in their everyday life. Refraining from showing the city on water as it usually is, Lucia is attached to portray locals in an almost ordinary urban setting, which wouldn’t be easily identified as Venice by the non-expert eye. By making the Venetians the center of her photographs and by choosing to depict scenes without canals and water, the street photography of Lucia gives back to Venice its real face, its human face, the face of the people who inhabit it.
