A special local Christmas event: Santas Racing on the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy
Every year, Ca’Foscari University organizes this fun race just before Christmas. Dressed as Santas, the participants to this regatta row their traditional Venetian rowing boats on the Canal Grande using the technique of the “voga alla valesana”.
Short prior to Christmas, amateur and champion rowers compete to win the last “regata a la valesana”, a technique of the Venetian rowing using two oars, dressed in colorful Santa attire.
