In April 2019, the Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List published an article regarding the hyper-tourism crisis in Venice– which Croatia is taking as a warning to avoid development in a similar direction. In addition to discussing the problems, the article also discussed potential solutions, and featured Venezia Autentica as an example of smart, sustainable tourism that works to reconnect the locals and the tourists while building a viable local economy.
