    The cruise ship companies are buying into the port of the city

    financial operation brought the company “Venezia Investimenti SRL” to potentially become the future majority shareholder of “VTP spa”.

    Who are these companies, you wonder?

    “Venezia Investimenti SRL”‘ is a society whose shareholders are the cruise companies “MSC”, “Costa Crociere”, “Royal Carribean”; while “VTP spa” is one that controls the Venice Cruise Terminal, some docks and structures of the Venice port.
    Wait, there is more: as of now, “Venezia Investimenti SRL” (the cruise companies) owns 48% of a company that controls “VTP spa” (the port), but in the coming 2 years their share can grow over 51% and they could this way get direct control over “VTP spa”. So yes, you read and understood well: the cruise companies will be owners of the Venice Cruise Terminal and other assets of the local Port
