The Italian State Mint will make 2€ coins with engravings of the Saint Mark's Basilica facade
The Saint Mark’s Basilica, the most important church in Venice, and one of the most important and renown churches and landmarks in the world will celebrate its 400th anniversary since it was completed, the way we know it today, in 1617.
In order to celebrate and remember this date, the Italian State Mint has announced that it will soon release a brand new 2€ coin designed for this special occasion.
In the early months of 2017, a total of 1,5 million 2€ commemorative coins will be released. Just like every other 2€ coin, these coins will have one side with the standard 2€ image of Europe from above, while the other side will be characterized by the engraving of the beautiful Saint Mark’s Basilica in Venice!
We must admit we are very excited about this news and we can’t wait to put our hands on our first Saint Mark’s Basilica coin and make sure not to use it for our purchases!
Even though the value of this special coin will be set equal to 2€, to us it will be worth more than this… and we are pretty sure we’re not the only ones feeling this way.
