On one of the islands of Venice is a fort called “Forte Sant’Andrea”, a place where all venetians have been to play, explore, have a good time with their dear ones and which in the past protected the entry of the lagoon and the “mouth” of the Lido.
This fort, part of the city historic patrimony, has a symbolic importance almost as high as the one of the more famous Palazzo Ducale.

Most of the beauty that you see around you in Venice, dates back to the time of the Serenissima Republic. Beyond the renown success of the local merchants, what made Venice a super-power of the middle-age was its unique long-term management. The decisions in Venice, were all made, in order, to see the city standing healthy centuries later.

In order to find a solution to this problem and make the life of the inhabitants easier, the mayor of the city has instituted, from June 2016, priority access to the transportations for owners of the “Venezia Unica Oro” card, a public transportation card available only to residents in the Venice municipality. This decision has been taken in order to improve the liveability of the city, not to discriminate.

20 years ago, the 29th of January 1996, during a night which no Venetian will ever forget, the Teatro La Fenice, one of the most important opera theatres of Italy and Europe, burnt in a devastating fire.
