Burano lace is an art so fine it has many legends trying to explain its origins with sailors, exotic seas, and sirens, and it has been recently nominated to become a UNESCO world heritage.
The popularity for Burano lace came in 1600 when it became a high-end trend to use it to embellished important European residences, as well as being used as an ornament by dames and kings. The great demand could be met thanks to hundreds of women working in the Venice lagoon who practiced this ancient art.
Nowadays very few still master these fine techniques, making this difficult, complex and beautiful hand made production something really exclusive and rare.
